Managing Director Derek Johnston founded Johnston Farm Equipment in September 1983 and first started trading from premises in Kenagh, Co Longford. In June 1985 the company moved to new premises at an eight acre site on the Athlone Road in Longford.
Since then the business has expanded to include a number of quality agricultural equipment franchises, having established an ever increasing customer base in the centre and north of the country covering Longford, Roscommon, Westmeath, Sligo, Leitrim & Cavan.
“The business has been built on the basis of good, reliable parts and service support, the results of which can be seen today,” says Derek Johnston. “We have striven from the start to provide our customers with top class, top of the range, quality products”.
Having been Massey Ferguson dealers from 1985 until 1998 and following restructuring in 2013, Johnston Farm Equipment set about securing a quality tractor range to complement their existing range of quality farm machinery brands. “We have recently been appointed as Massey Ferguson dealers for Longford, Sligo and Roscommon. Returning to the Massey Ferguson franchise gives us a quality range of tractors that have been shown to be popular in the region,” said Sam Johnston.“We can now offer farmers and contractors a standard tractor with a higher specification than in the past; a tractor range that has proven reliability and low fuel consumption. The new Massey Ferguson range adds to our quality machinery offer which includes the wide range of Lely grassland equipment, HiSpec Slurry and Feeding Machinery and Bomford Hedge cutters. We are also Sulky fertilizer spreader dealers for the region and these together with exclusive distribution franchises for all Ireland for Bury Sprayers, Hackett Chain Harrows and Hustler Bale Feeding Equipment completes our comprehensive range”.
The company has always recognized the need for a constant supply of good used equipment and to this end always has in stock a large variety of machinery fully refurbished and ready for work.
